Frequently Asked Kitchen Refurbishment Questions

Over the years, our customers have asked us plenty of questions about our Kitchen Makeover Process, our Replacement Kitchen Doors, Kitchen Respray, and so on. That’s why we’ve decided to create a list of the most common ones for your convenience. If you can’t find an answer to your particular question here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us on 01363 777607 or email our team.

What is your lead time?

We are usually booked a minimum of 8-12 weeks in advance year-round. On occasion, we can fit customers in sooner depending on the size and location of their kitchen or when another job reliant on other trades finishing before we start is behind schedule.

What areas do you cover?

From our base in Crediton, we cover the vast majority of the South West. If you draw a line from Bristol down to Weymouth, you’ll find that we cover everything west all the way down to Land’s End! For more details, please refer to the Areas We Cover page.

How many coats do you apply?

We apply two primer coats and two top coats as a minimum, using specialist kitchen and furniture paint designed for durability and longevity.

How long does the finish last?

If cared for, the finish can last up to 10 years. All our work is guaranteed for 2 years. During this time, we will come and rectify any issues, without any fuss. We also supply a touch-up kit, so you can repair any small damage with minimal effort.

How do I look after my newly sprayed kitchen?

As with new kitchen doors you would buy directly from retailer, we ask that you wash them with warm soapy water. The product and surface are very easy to clean this way. We supply full instructions on completion or upon request.

What preparation will I need to do?

We would ask you to empty all drawers and open shelving/glazed units that are being sprayed, and clear the worktops. Please select the colour two weeks prior to the start date and the final decision on handles on our first visit. If your kitchen hasn’t been cleaned for some time, we recommend getting a professional cleaner prior to work starting. We always clean, degrease and fully prepare the kitchen as part of our service. However, we reserve the right to charge for additional cleaning.

Do I need to empty all my cupboards?

You will be pleased to know you don’t. Any cupboards with a door on do not need emptying, as we mask the contents in before completing the spraying.

Do I have to be at home when the work is carried out?

No, you don’t. As long as we can access your kitchen, we are happy to get the work done while you are at work or even away on holiday. We have done numerous projects alone, and our staff always make sure your property is protected and respected during work.

Is the process messy?

No, it isn’t. We use Festool sanders and dust extractors when preparing the kitchen. When spraying, we use specialist equipment that minimises the overspray. The kitchen is also masked up, and the fumes are extracted. We can change your kitchen to look like new, with minimal mess. To find out more, please refer to our Kitchen Respray Process, Replacement Kitchen Doors Process, and Worktop Resurfacing & Kitchen Vinyl Wrapping Process pages.

I have pets; will that be a problem?

No, we love pets and work in a variety of homes with a variety of pets. We do ask they are not in the area while we are working to ensure their safety and to avoid unwanted hairs in the finish! Rest assured we will give your pets the utmost consideration.

What material are your doors made from?

We use the best Moisture Resistant MDF on the UK market, Finsa Hidrofugo. This is an extremely dense, durable product that machines very well and is great for spray finishing.

What replacement door styles can you offer?

As we make all our Replacement Kitchen Doors using a CNC (a computer-controlled cutting device), we can do both traditional shaker designs and more elaborate designs to best suit your kitchen. If you’re feeling adventurous, we can even offer you a bespoke kitchen door design. For example, we recently did some Art Deco doors for a client. If that sounds like something you might like, why not request a callback so we can discuss your preferences?

Can I change handles and their position?

Yes, changing the handles can complete the finish of your new kitchen. We will help you in any way possible to make sure you get the finish you want. If you want to change the style and position completely, we can fill the holes and fit the handles in a new place.

Do you paint the inside of the kitchen units?

The short answer is no. We spray the back of doors and drawers and the leading edge they close on to. Beyond that, we do not spray the interior. If you have open shelving (with no doors) and other areas that are visible when the doors are closed, we will spray them.

How much do Kitchen Makeovers cost?

A Kitchen Makeover works out significantly less than a new kitchen. Naturally, prices will vary depending on the condition, size, and location of your kitchen. You can view our price guide in the menu to get a general idea. For an no-obligation quote within 48 hours, please complete the enquiry form.

Do you offer tiling?

This is not a service we offer at present. We recommend speaking to your local tile supplier.

What other kitchen services can you offer?

We can do additional upgrades, including:

  • Installing soft-close hinges and drawers
  • Fitting additional storage wirework
  • Sanding back timber worktops
  • Fitting new handles
  • Vinyl wrapping worktops & splashbacks (covering tiles)
  • Fitting additional kitchen units/doors
  • Moving or removing units

Can I view a finished kitchen? Do you have a showroom?

We have a showroom where you can view three different kitchen displays and numerous sample doors before and after spraying, plus vinyl samples. We also have a kettle and biscuits, so you can have a browse at your leisure while getting a feel for what is possible.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have extensive insurance coverage on site, in transit, and in our premises. Rest assured your property is in safe hands with us.

Are you VAT registered?

Yes, we are VAT registered. Our VAT Number is 379 1438 63.
